About

Zhanerke Zhumash

UBC Student, Mathematics and Data science

Hi! This is Zhanerke

Aspiring Data Engineer/ Data Scientist

- I traveled 7,200 miles from Kazakhstan to Vancouver, Canada to get an education at the University of British Columbia and pursue my interest in applied maths, data science, FinTech and Sustainability.

- As a recipent of prestigious scholarship (International Leader of Tomorrow) at UBCV, I study Applied Maths Major and Data Science Minor program.

- I love working in a team, fast-paced environments like hackahthons and discovering new ideas.

Check out my projects below!

Data Science & Analytics

Predicting Daily Streamflow of BC Rivers with Deep Learning (Present)

Statistical inference in Python

- This is REX 2023-2024 project with Dr.Bayati from UBC Earth Sciences department.

- Currently applying machine learning principles to innovate a forecasting model for British Columbia river streamlines, transforming water resource and climate management practices.

- Will present in the upcoming conference in March for REX program and apply for jounals.

Object Identification project with OpenCV (Present)

Python (openCV), YOLOV7

- After taking part in numerous hackathons, I got really curious about different ways we can gather data from customers to expand businesses.

- This is my personal project where I explored object identification techniques of CCTV cameras to acquire more data from the world. This is a trending technology nowadays that enables businesses identify customer preferences beyond surveys.

- See how the app works below.

Heart Disease prediction, Data Science Project (Sep-Dec, 2023)

R, Jupyter notebook, Kaggle dataset

DSCI 100 project final report.

- Used KNN classification method to predict diagnosis of heart disease and its efficiency using statistical inference methods.

Stock market analysis case study (2023)

Python: matplotlib, pandas, sklearn, numpy

My statistics course project aimed to develop a user-friendly platform catering to advanced Business Analysts who lacked programming knowledge.

The primary objective was to enable these analysts to conduct comprehensive consultations, analyses, and modeling of stock time series data.

The platform incorporated both Descriptive and Predictive analytics to facilitate specific stock searches, query particular time ranges, and perform associated analyses, such as statistical descriptions of prices and/or volume (mean, median, range, etc.).

Web Development

ForestAR (May-Sep, 2023)

React, Typescript, OpenAI API, Figma, MongoDB

- The project got accepted to EMLx projects and is eligible for funding.

- Created comprehensive technical specifications for the Forest Bathing AR web-app, providing clear direction for the development team and contributing to a 15% reduction in development time, thus boosting team’s productivity.

- Translated the initial UI/UX design of the product into web-app by employing React, Typescript, MongoDB, and the OpenAI API.

Fitnomic (Apr, 2023)

Pitch deck, Figma

- Produhacks x EY hackathon project

- Awarded Sponsor Prize from SAP and EY for the demo and idea.

- A modern mobile app that utilizes gamification and a rewards system to encourage employee engagement in wellness programs. So far, only the front-end development version is available. The project plans to develop a gamification and rewards system in the future.

Mathematical Animations Lab (2022-Present)

Python (matplotlib, numpy, scikit, manim)

In my free time, I like to play around with different libraries in Python that can showcase fun side of maths. You can find video samples of those animations in the markdown by pressing preview.
